Why the Mayan (Cholqi’ji/Tzolkin) Calendar? Did you know that we use and live by a calendar created in the 1500’s referred to as the Gregorian calendar, created by Pope Gregory? The intention of the Gregorian calendar was to follow agricultural timelines and tax the people for food and products. Thus, making this calendar’s purpose intently focused upon money. It also loosely follows the revolution of the Earth around the Sun….sort of, but not exactly. So why do we still follow a calendar created by a Pope in the 1500’s? Seems odd to me! Ahhh, it is summer in Wisconsin and we certainly welcome you with open arms. It brings such joy to our hearts (and bellies) to see the beautiful array of colors lining the stalls at Farmer’s Markets and filling up the produce sections across town.
